A quilt built brick by brick

What this is

Brick by Brick is a community quilt made in the shape of a running-bond brick wall. Every full brick on it was decorated by an individual community member, and stitched together into a single piece that hangs in Atlanta City Hall.

This site is how visitors find their own brick. Scan the code by the quilt, type in the name written on your brick, and your place on the wall lights up with plain-language directions to help you find it in the room.

About the quilt

The quilt is a true running-bond brick pattern. Each finished brick measures six inches by three inches, set with a one-and-a-half-inch sashing that reads as mortar, and every other row is offset by a half brick, just like a real wall. The map you search on the home page is drawn to that same scale, so the brick you find on screen sits exactly where it sits on the wall.
